Connecting the Gateway to a Fire Panel

Please make sure the device (ST1 box) is turned off before connecting to a panel. Then follow the steps below:

  1. Connect the 10-pin molex connector on the serial download cable to the FACP’s service port. See how to connect to each of the supported panels below:

    • 4100U Panels: Connect the cable to the service port on the front of the FACP or to the serial service port on the CPU card.

    • 4100ES Panels: Connect the cable to the serial service port on the CPU daughter card.

    • 4010ES Panels: Connect the cable to the serial service port on the CPU card.

    • 4007ES Panels: Connect the cable to the serial service port on the CPU card.

    Connect the cable

  2. Ensure the cellular service dongle is connected to the USB port on the side of the gateway.

    Connect - Step 2

  3. Insert the DB9 connector on the serial download cable into the DB9 port on the ST1 box and tighten the screws.

    Connect - Step 3

Your gateway is now connected to the panel and ready to establish a connection!

Connecting the Gateway to the Xaap Cloud

Once the ST1 box is connected and switched on, the user should notice the following during correct operation:

  1. Straight after switch is pressed:
    1. All LEDs light up briefly.
    2. The Battery Voltage Indicator comes on.
  1. After a few seconds all LEDs except the CPU LED will turn off. The CPU LED will be blinking constantly.
  1. The LEDs on the cellular dongle will come on (less than a minute after startup).
    1. The Link LED will flash on the cellular dongle, indicating that the dongle is talking to the ST1 box.
    2. Signal LEDs on the cellular dongle will turn on.
  1. The signal strength LEDs turn on (about 1-2 minutes after start-up).
  1. A couple of seconds later the internet LED comes on.
  1. About 1-2 minutes after the internet LED comes on, the server LED will turn on (if the connection to the panel and server is successful).

  1. After the server light comes on, it will take a minimum of 5 minutes for the points to be downloaded from the panel, the exact time depends on the panel type and the amount of devices it has configured (it might take longer on larger 4100 systems).

Once the points have been downloaded from the panel, the panel light will come on. This indicates that the panel is ready for testing.

Your panel is now connected to Xaap and you can begin your inspection!
